Sinead Quinn: Championing Sports, Strengthening Support, and Elevating Student Life!

Hi, I’m Sinead Quinn a 3rd-year International Tourism and Events Management student passionate about student life and making a real impact.

I’ve been deeply involved in our university community, as a Student Events Assistant (2025), Sports Council member (2023 & 2024), Muay Thai Captain (2022), and an active member of GCU Weightlifting (2023 & 2024) and Mountaineering (2024). My experience in leadership and event organisation has given me a strong understanding of what students need to thrive.

If elected, I will: 

1. Increasing Sports Clubs Funding – I will fight for better funding to help cover the rising costs of equipment, travel, memberships, and kits, ensuring students can participate without financial barriers.

2. Prioritize Student Mental Health & Well-being – I will push for more accessible well-resourced mental health services by adding more counsellors and shorter waiting times.

3. Support Direct Entry Students – I will improve academic support through fairer assessment policies, better feedback, and stronger academic guidance.

4. Tackle the Cost of living – I will advocate for free lunch for all students on campus in Glasgow and London.

5. Enhance Campus Life & Facilities – I will create more social/study spaces, and upgrade vital facilities like the nursery and bathrooms.

6. Upgrade the Student Association Bar -   I will transform the bar into a vibrant student hub by introducing more events, adding dartboards and live sports screening, and ensuring consistent opening hours.
