Manifesto for a Fairer, Stronger GCU
Candidate: Samuel Eziri
Position: Full-Time Officer, GCU Students’ Association
Glasgow Caledonian University should be a place where every student thrives—not struggles. I am standing to be your Full-Time Officer to fight for fairness, affordability, and a stronger student community.
1. End Unfair Laundry Charges at Caledonian Court
Students should not have to pay to wash their clothes—it’s a necessity, not a luxury. I will campaign to abolish laundry fees and push for free or significantly reduced services.
2. A Leader Who is Always Available
Representation is meaningless if students can’t reach their leaders. I will be accessible at all times—online, in person, and through regular drop-in sessions to ensure your concerns are heard and acted upon.
3. Affordable Student Life
The cost-of-living crisis is hitting students hard. I will push for cheaper food options on campus, increased hardship funds, and better financial support for student renters.
4. Academic Support and Mental Wellbeing
I will fight for improved feedback systems, fairer grading, and flexible learning. I will also campaign for more free mental health services, additional counselors, and 24/7 peer support networks.
5. A Diverse and Inclusive GCU I will ensure international, disabled, LGBTQ+, and minority students feel supported and represented, while strengthening anti-discrimination policies and community events.
6. More Career and Employability Opportunities I will push for paid internships, networking events, and fairer wages for working students. Vote Samuel – A Servant Leader Who Listens, A Voice That Fights for You!
