My name is Mariam Queen Akinwale, and I am running to be your next Full-Time Officer because I believe in a university experience where every student's voice is heard, valued, and acted upon. As someone who has worked as a Student Ambassador, Travel Advisor, and has volunteered my skills as a GlobalBuddy, a Senior PAL and a Student Voice Member, I am fully commited to students' experience and, have actively supported students and contributed to our university community. I was also honored to participate in the Student Leaders Programme, and I am currently pursuing the Common Good Award to further hone and develop my skills as an effective leader. Additionally, as a member of GCU Entrepreneurial Hub, I have come to deeply understand the value of innovation and student support.

My Vision:

Empower Students for Academic Excellence

• Advocate for more awareness on clear Al guidelines to help students understand how to use generative Al ethically and effectively in their studies.
• Push for more extra-curricular resources, workshops and peer support to help students excel.

Enhance Student Well-being & Comfort

• Advocate for assigning personal tutors for postgraduate students.
• Push for more culturally diverse and affordable food in the canteen.

Engage & Elevate Our Community

• Ensure that students are properly signposted and made aware of career and CV support services available within GCU.
• Engage with the Entreprenuerial Hub to ensure that more students in both Glasgow and London campuses have access to GCU's entrepreneurship and business support programs.
