The Glasgow Caledonian Students’ Association supports staff and campus trade unions in the ongoing dispute concerning 100 proposed redundancies at the University.
The Association recognises the severe impact a reduction in staffing levels would have on student experience and quality of education, especially in light of GCU already having the poorest student-to-staff ratio in the UK. (The Guardian University Guide 2027)
The Students’ Association will:
• Declare its support for strike action in a public statement.
• Direct Full-Time Officers to immediately undertake work to educate students on the reasons for and impact of the proposed redundancies, as well as how students can support strike action.
• Direct Full-Time Officers to immediately engage with and assist campus trade unions and student solidarity campaigns.
All students at Glasgow Caledonian University are automatically members of GCU Students' Association.
This membership is free for current GCU students.

The treatment of the 100 is absolutely shocking alongside the work of admin at the moment!
Shocked and concerned at the level of apathy demonstrated by the university.
While I support this idea. I do not think this vote shall make any major change in the eyes of the University. They shall continue with the cuts. The Student Association needs to be far stronger on this issue actively condemning the individuals by name who are making these decisions, and potentially boycotting lessons.
Its an easy fix for a terrible problem. The university needs to take action so the lives of many aren't affected by the greed of the few.
Hi, does anyone know what we can do to support the lectures and show out support?
What will be the student association’s role in the strike? How does the student association’s participation in the strike affect students’ outcomes? Are the student association not supposed to be a neutral body or a bridge between the university and the staff since they represent the student? Why do they want to take sides?
Take this voting to the campus, possibly with qr code. Let students know why and what they are voting for, then allow them to decide. Lots of student are not aware of it.
