I've been disappointed to see promotional material for a Barclays job fair on our social media channels. Barclays is the "dirtiest bank in Europe" and actively funnels money into fossil fuel industries and arms industries, amongst other deplorable practices. I find it unconscionable that GCU is encouraging its students to look into opportunities at an organisation that reaps profits from the destruction of our planet. This is certainly not "For the Common Good".

I believe GCU should remind themselves of their values and stop the promotion of these Barclays-associated events, whether they exist inside or outside the campus. Additionally, Barclays representatives should no longer be allowed at any wider employability events going forward. Ideally, GCU would take accountability for acting in a manner so against their stated values, just as public as their promotion for these events has been, but quietly ceasing these activities would also suffice.

The banking industry in general is corrupt, all the biggest banks benefit the rich (including ones that are responsible for killings and sufferings). Going after 1 company (who is helping to recruit gcu students) is not the correct method.

Your logic is defective. 1.You call the banking industry corrupt and yet support the recruitment of students in that same industry - morally inconsistent. 2. You're alluding to the idea that because people still engage with other banks they can't "go after" one. This is silly because most Muslims (which make up a large demographic of those supporting the notion above) refrain from banks and interest which is the main cause of the corruption within banking. Even with those who do engage with other banks, you are essentially saying to them "since they're all bad, let's just give up and support evil wholeheartedly instead of trying to make a stand in whatever way we can". Throwing the baby out with the bath water. 3. Your selfish support for a company that is supporting genocide just because your priority is getting a barclays job so you can get the new iPhone 15 over the literal lives of innocent men, women and children IS NOT CORRECT.

Because for 'the common good' does not include partnering with Genocide
