I have noticed that lectures and assessments are fixed within the Student Election week. This is not appropriate as the week is supposed to be free for students to fully participate in the election of their officers. This has also hindered many students from participating in an election, either by presenting themselves for elective positions, or have the time to cast their vote.

Also, students who are involved in the electioneering processes end up struggling to catch up with their peers after the election. This is an infringement in the the rights of students.

Therefore, I am proposing that all assessments due within the Student Election week be shifted, and lecture attendance not compulsory. This will help and encourage students to participate more in the elections.
