Torridon Trip (Extended)

We are going to... Torridon!

You will be required to have full membership to the club to attend and purchase a ticket for this trip. Details for purchase of tickets through this page will be published in due course, so keep a look out on our Instagram page for updates. It is recommend to purchase a ticket as early as possible as weekend meets tend to sell out fast.

We will be making the journey up to Kinlochewe on the Friday afternoon and will likely have staggered leave times for the transport, this will be discussed in the pre-trip meeting. This will be a 3 night trip, allowing fo even more Torridon related madness!

Please see the advised kit list

Activities

As always, you make your own plans for what you want to do during the weekend. However, we will and can support you with tips for route choices and we will of course make our own plans which you will be invited to join!

Torridon and the surrounding area offer many gargantuan and epic mountains, some harder than others, this trip will require a proficient level of mountain fitness to tackle the harder ones (such as the classics like Liathach), but there is also plenty of choice in terms of more moderate Munro's in the area. Plans will be discussed in the pre-trip meeting and during the weekend. We will of course be subject to the weather in terms of where will give us the best days out.

Accomodation

We are staying at Kinlochewe Village Hall, so bring your own sleeping mat and bag. As always if you are unsure please contact the committee, we will be covering things in the pre-trip meeting.

Facilities include:

- A large hall which has a wooden floor, this is where we will be sleeping/socialising.

- A kitchen with a cooker, fridge, freezer and basic kitchen equipment.

- There are ladies and gents toilets, which contain showers.

We will need to clean the hall before we leave and we expect everyone to help with this, and in usual GCUMC fashion we aim to leave the place cleaner than we found it.

What to bring

This trip will require non-winter orientated gear, but please remember to bring a warm layer still. If you're unsure on what to bring please contact us.

Please see the kit list.

As this is a trip with accomodation we will be sleeping in the hall for 3 nights, you will be required to have a sleeping bag and sleeping mat (we also have a limited amount to use if you do not have these, and you MUST bring your own sleeping bag liner) along with your day sack for the trip, prepare for 3 days worth of mountain activity. It is also important that you bring something to eat in the evening.

If you wish to loan any club equipment for the trip, please contact the Gear Secretary (Equipment will be loaned out on a first ask, first serve basis).
