Hike - Ben Lawers & Beinn Ghlas

You will be required to have full membership to the club to attend and purchase a ticket for this trip. Details for purchase of tickets through this page will be published in due course, so keep a look out on our Instagram page for updates.

We will be summiting 2 Munros on this hike, Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas which are just to the East of Killin. This provides a nice day out to help ease people back into more summer conditions.

Please see the advised kit list.

As per, you will be required to have a minimum of: hiking boots (that cover/protect the ankles) and waterproofs, and preferably clothing that is not made of cotton, and no jeans for safety reasons. A headtorch is also a necessity. If you are unsure please contact the club, as you will not be permitted on the trip without meeting the above requirements.

Transport

We will be travelling by van which will be arranged by the club.

Outward Journey: Meet outside the Student Union at 7:20am, we will be departing by 7:30am (please arrive promptly so we can leave promptly).

Return Journey: We anticipate arriving back in Glasgow for the evening.

The Route

We will be following this route: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/ben-lawers.shtml

Background info on the mountains: Ben Lawers is the tenth highest Munro - is the culminating point of the sprawling range of mountains on the north side of Loch Tay. Its great height is undermined by a high level car park to begin the ascent, and this is one of the most popular hills in Scotland. A second Munro - Beinn Ghlas - is crossed en-route and is barely noticed by many.
