Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Scheme Introduced in GCU

Friday 01-12-2017 - 09:47

Knowing well that GCU is a very diverse citadel of learning, it is of joy to see that opportunities are been given to all students which includes international students because GCU Students' Association represents over 16,000 students which out of this includes international students from over 50 countries.

Working with the Careers Service to encourage the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneurship Visa Scheme was a good step for me to do because it is an initiative already introduced in most universities in the UK. This year November 2017, GCU Visa Immigration Support and Advice (VISA) Team and the Careers Service have carried this vision forward and made the possibility of the Entrepreneurship Scheme for international students.

This year there are 10 slots for GCU students and potential future support to accommodate more students is being recommended and will be taken forward. This Tier 1 Scheme will help international students to create international business ideas of their own and more opportunities for them in the United Kingdom. Also, a briefing session was organisedon 1st November 2017 on campus and it was a success encouraging more students.
