Student Case Study - Tom Jarvis, Radio Caley Volunteer

Tuesday 10-09-2019 - 13:16

Tom Jarvis, BSc (Hons) Food Bioscience

How did you first get involved?

I pestered the Radio Caley Committee for information and shortly after found out it was really easy to get involved. I have had various volunteer roles within Radio Caley and I also became the Station Manager.

Why did you decide to get involved?

I was interested in audio tech and DJing, and by the first week, realised that my degree wasn't satisfying that.

What difference has it made to your university experience being involved?

It's made me busier. Much busier. This sounds bad, but uni presents a lot of free time and, as I know is the case with most students, we don't work well unless a bit of pressure is on us. It has also given me an amazing social life - if you want to make friends, find a society/group with a similar interest and you are sorted.

What difference has your involvement made to others?

It has blessed them with the luxury of meeting me! Or, more seriously, I don't think I have. Everyone contributes as part of a team, its the collective that really benefits other people, not the individual.
