Student Case Study - Jamie Ferrie, Class Rep

Friday 13-09-2019 - 08:00

Jamie Ferrie, BSc (Hons) Psychology

How did you first get involved?

I first got involved with the Class Rep role after being given a work-related lecture emphasizing the growing need to stand out in the graduate world. I was elected as Class Rep for the BSc Psychology programme for all four years of my studies.

Why did you decide to get involved?

I decided to become a Class Rep to push myself out of a comfort zone and experience something new, as well as having more to offer on my CV. Being a Class Rep meant I could  participate in the Student Leaders Programme, as leadership was an area that I felt I could develop in and enrich my personal development journey.

What difference has it made to your university experience being involved?

Doing both activities has taught me that it was 100% worthwhile pushing out my comfort zone. The experience has not only given me a 1st class honours degree, but also the confidence to believe in myself that I can push the boundaries even more!

What difference has your involvement made to others?

I feel that through my Class Rep role I have been grateful to get to know a large number of my fellow students, as well as the psychology staff which makes me an approachable person within the course. I feel the role is crucial as it really does give the opportunity for students to engage with staff concerning their education.
