Daisley Hamuda, BSc (Hons) Psychology
How did you first get involved?
I first got involved through a Psychology Society Annual Meeting where they were offering positions on that year's Committee. We went along because we had heard about the prison trip they had done the year before and wanted to meet some people in our course! I joined the Society and then became a member of the Committee. It also meant I could do the Student Leaders Programme.
Why did you decide to get involved?
I decided to get involved as I wanted more to do with the societies in uni, I hadn't really looked into much before going to that first meeting, but it looked pretty fun! It was mostly an impulse decision, but I'm really glad I did it as I ended up taking on more roles afterwards (including the Freshers Team
What difference has it made to your university experience being involved?
I feel like having these roles has made me a more confident person as well allowing me to discover what the uni has to offer. Before being involved I didn't know much about the Students' Association at all! It's also opened up volunteering opportunities outwith the uni, which have been great for experience
What difference has your involvement made to others?
It's encouraged my friends to take more of an interest in what the uni offers too. They're all a member of the society now too! I hope that helping run workshops has encouraged those participating to go on to take on other roles in the Students' Association!
