Over the last year, I have been working with both the Research Student Leads and the University to ensure that Research Students that teach at GCU will be issued with a suitable payment schedule in advance.  Research Students that teach are both students and employees of the University, and as a result,  the process of their payroll is different to that of both academic staff and professional services staff.  

In recent years, students have consistently feed this as an area of concern back to the Students’ Association and University. Research Students find it challenging to prove that they are in receipt of a monthly income whilst studying to external organisations e.g. utility providers and housing providers.

Finally we can say that this has been resolved this year.

The University has committed to ensuring that all students that teach will be provided with a suitable payment schedule upfront for the year.

This is a big win for us...
