LGBT+ Mentoring Opportunity

Tuesday 24-04-2018 - 09:35
Lgbt barclays partnership

GCU and GCU Students' Association's LGBT+ Liberation Group are partnering with Barclays to offer a unique and exciting development opportunity.

What is involved?

The Mentoring Programme, which is exclusively open to any current GCU student who self-identifies as LGBT+, is based on a very simple concept: you will be paired with a mentor from Barclays who will provide you, as the mentee, with guidance and advice, as well as new ideas, practices and networking opportunities that will help you overcome challenges and develop further as a professional. The programme will help build your skills, experience and confidence, regardless of your programme of study or future career.

The Mentoring Programming also benefits Barclays as an organisation as it will provide their leaders with an insight into the experiences of LGBT+ people so that they can enhance their own policies and practices to being an inclusive workplace.

You do not have to be studying Business, Accountancy, etc. to take part in this opportunity - you only have to be a current GCU student who self-identifies as LGBT+

How does it work in practice?

The Programme aims to be flexible and be tailored to your needs. Once paired up with a mentor, you can decide what you want to focus on. For example, you may want to get advice and support on things like interview skills, communication skills or teamwork skills. You will also decide practical things such as how often you want to meet, where to meet etc. There is no prescriptive way of running the mentee/mentor relationship as everyone has different needs and approaches. However, we will have information and guidance at our launch event to help you on your way.

How do I sign up?
