For fresher’s, Badminton had a stall at fresher’s fayre and made a special effort to interact with freshers at GCU as previous years, the club struggled to attract an interest which is a great step forward. The first week, the team hosted an open night where over 35 members turned up, which for GCU badminton was a brilliant turnout!

This year’s successes include winning the Scottish University men’s double with Ciar Pringle and Matthew Duguid. As well as Ciar Pringle not only winning GCU Sportsman of the Year – but reaching world championships. The team have such great role models within the sports team and it’s encouraging to see other members follow in their footsteps.

Next year, the team aims to have many more social events so the team members can bond within and without the team training nights. The team will also hopefully recruit more female players at Fresher’s to ensure more diversity across the team, as well as promote itself even more around GCU.
